How to publish on SkillDock

Use this when you need to release a new skill or a new version. The stable flow is: edit -> bump version -> verify -> dry-run -> upload.

1) Install CLI and publisher skill

pipx install --force skilldock
skilldock --version
skilldock install skilldock/skilldock-publisher@0.1.11

Publisher listing: https://skilldock.io/skill/skilldock/skilldock-publisher

2) Authenticate once and save a token

skilldock auth login
skilldock tokens create --save
skilldock auth status
skilldock tokens list

Use `skilldock auth login --no-open` on headless environments.

3) Tagging and version checklist

Before every publish:

  • Set `tags:` in YAML frontmatter.
  • Bump `version:` whenever tags or content change.
  • Quote frontmatter strings with special characters.
  • Verify package output before upload.

4) Verify and dry-run before upload

skilldock skill verify "$SKILL_PATH"
skilldock skill upload --namespace "$NAMESPACE" --slug "$SLUG" --version "$VERSION" --path "$SKILL_PATH" --dry-run

5) Publish release

skilldock namespaces create "$NAMESPACE"
skilldock namespaces list
skilldock skill upload --namespace "$NAMESPACE" --slug "$SLUG" --version "$VERSION" --path "$SKILL_PATH"

Optional flags: `--visibility private`, `--homepage-url https://example.com`, and `--dependency`.

6) Fast troubleshooting

401/403: re-auth or check scopes
404: verify namespace/slug/version visibility
429: wait about 60s before retrying auth
