How to update a SkillDock skill

Use this when a skill already exists and you are shipping a new version. The release-safe path is: edit -> bump -> verify -> dry-run -> publish.

1) Install CLI and updater skill

pipx install --force skilldock
skilldock --version
skilldock install skilldock/skill-updater@0.1.6

Updater listing: https://skilldock.io/skill/skilldock/skill-updater

2) Required inputs

NAMESPACE=<namespace>
SLUG=<existing-skill-slug>
VERSION=<new-version>
SKILL_PATH=/path/to/skill

3) Authenticate and keep a saved token

skilldock auth login
skilldock tokens create --save
skilldock auth status

4) Update flow commands

skilldock skill verify "$SKILL_PATH"
skilldock skill upload   --namespace "$NAMESPACE"   --slug "$SLUG"   --version "$VERSION"   --path "$SKILL_PATH"   --dry-run
skilldock skill upload --namespace "$NAMESPACE" --slug "$SLUG" --version "$VERSION" --path "$SKILL_PATH"

5) Dependencies and versioning notes

Declare dependencies in frontmatter or add repeatable `--dependency` flags at upload.

Always publish a new version for any content/tag changes and avoid reusing versions.

6) Common errors

401 Unauthorized: login again
403 Forbidden: token lacks write scope
404 Not Found: wrong namespace/slug/version or visibility
